OverPlay DNS Review
Need an affordable, easy way to unlock US Netflix and other popular streaming sites, channels and services? OverPlay is one option to consider. As a leading provider of Smart DNS services, OverPlay lets you sidestep annoying geoblock restrictions, allowing you to watch movies, TV shows and other content with ease. Without having to download or install any software, you will finally be able to watch movies on just about any device imaginable. You can take your pick from many available channels, and the service is affordable and won't slow down your connection one bit.
While it's fairly easy to find information about many Smart DNS companies, that's not really the case with OverPlay. The company does not disclose where it is headquartered or where its servers are located. However, the company does advertise that it has servers in 48 countries around the world, which is very impressive. Don't let the lack of information about OverPlay deter you from trying it. The company's professional-quality website makes it clear that this is a reputable service, and you can use it with confidence.
There's one thing to get out of the way right away: Unlike the vast majority of Smart DNS providers, OverPlay does not offer a free trial of any kind. That is quite a surprise, of course, but don't let it deter you. The pricing is so affordable that it's not like you will be out a significant amount of money if you decide it's not for you. Besides, you can cancel at any time and still use the remaining time on your subscription.
The one-month price for OverPlay is $4.95, which is pretty standard across the industry. For just five bucks a month, you can unblock American Netflix and other popular services quickly and easily. Now, if you decide you like OverPlay and want to keep using it, you might want to switch to a six-month plan, which costs $26.95, or a one-year plan, which costs $49.95.
Like other services of its kind, OverPlay lets you unblock geographically restricted media, including US Netflix, Hulu, HBO Go and Amazon Instant. The clean, simple design of the site inspires confidence, and the service couldn't be easier to use. Even if you are a complete newbie to using a SmartDNS, you should be able to lift the geoblock restrictions that plague you in no time flat. OverPlay provides in-depth how-to guides for a wide array of compatible devices, including computers, smartphones and tablets, so you can hit the ground running upon signing up.
OverPlay is a standout in many ways, but its customer support is especially impressive. Many similar services offer little more than a support area that includes how-to guides and similar resources. OverPlay offers that, and it is very helpful; in fact, odds are that you can figure out whatever you need to simply by going there. However, OverPlay takes it to the next level by offering 24/7 live chat support. If you experience issues of any kind at any time, you can hop online and chat with a representative. We gave it a whirl and were very impressed by the knowledgeable and helpful support we received. It should be noted, however, that OverPlay does not offer email support, phone support or a ticket support system. Fortunately, they aren't missed because the available support is so good.
There's little point in using a SmartDNS service to watch TV shows, including American Netflix, if it's going to slow things down to a crawl. Few things are as annoying as trying to watch TV shows and movies and constantly being interrupted by buffering and lags. Luckily, you don't have to worry about these things with OverPlay. In our tests, the shows we watched using OverPlay flew right along without any trouble at all. That's especially impressive when you consider how affordable the service is.
Pros and Cons
As you can probably surmise from this review, we found lots of things to love about OverPlay. We appreciate that there's no software to download or install and that the service can be set up very quickly. We also liked that we could upgrade to a VPN account and receive free SmartDNS service. Customer support is a major standout here too, and we couldn't be happier with the assistance we received or with the available options.
Without question, the main drawback of OverPlay is the lack of a free trial. If the company could just start offering one, it might even rise to the very top of the list.
With its rock-bottom pricing, intuitive interface and abundance of great features, OverPlay is a worthwhile way to watch US Netflix and other popular channels and streaming services. If you face geographic viewing restrictions, be sure to give OverPlay a try.
